Rafflesia By: Nick Elms Rafflesia Magnifica

Interesting and Additional Facts Interesting Facts The rafflesia is the largest single flower in the world. The flower can reach over 90 cm long. Additional Facts The flower is a parasite that depends on hosts. The plant is not visible until the reproduction stage.

Habitat The Rafflesia mostly live in the Rainforests.

Reproduction & Gestation They get pollinated by flies on the central disk of the plant.

Diet The rafflesia doesn’t eat anything physically, so it goes through a process called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis

Predators/Prey Relationships There is no predator/prey relationship because the rafflesia doesn’t physically eat anything. also nothing eats it, so it goes through photosynthesis.

Biotic/Abiotic Factors Biotic Factors: Trees Flies Abiotic Factors: Soil Water

Limiting Factors There is only one limiting factor for the rafflesia and it’s the mountains because you would only find 3-5 plants there.

Number of Rafflesia Present There are around 3000 rafflesia left in the world.

Butterfly Species The rafflesia is a butterfly species because whatever pollinates it (flies) would die if there were no rafflesia. Then whatever eats the flies would starve because all of the flies would die.
