My Goal: My goal is to help students better interact with their world. This means developing knowledges, skills and practicing many different modes of communication, decision-making, application and investigation to help you understand, engage with and contribute to your world. Law 12

My Approach:  Inquiry-based  Essential questions  Reflective and critical thinking required  (Boy) Student Centered  Individual growth, hands on learning, student choice and agency.  Opportunities to be active, authentic assessment, project based learning.. Law 12

Department Philosophy “Knowing differently rather than knowing more may be humanity’s best hope.” Engaging Minds, Davis, Sumara, & Luce-Kapler, “The Department recognizes the importance of raising young men who are curious, engaged and care about the world around them. As the world faces many serious challenges in the 21 st century, the Department’s approach to pedagogy reflects the School’s belief that the leaders it creates need to have a broad world perspective that allows them to be creative and empathetic problem solvers. “ “The Department’s conception of teaching allows students to represent their knowing in multiple ways through a variety of instructional strategies and learning opportunities. …”

My Expectations: You are the primary agent of your own learning. As a class and as a learning community, we will contribute to the learning of each other. We will be prepared and present for every class. We will communicate our needs to trusted peers and our teachers in a responsible, respectful and proactive manner. Law 12

Our Course What does justice look like? The Canadian justice system. What has been said about justice? Philosophical approaches to justices, ethics, and moral reasoning. How do we achieve justice? Using systems and philosophies to achieve justice in the community. Through these themes, we will study the traditional units of the course: foundations of law, civil and tort law, family law, criminal law, etc.
