Exam Question Describe what schools do to implement the Healthy Schools Programme.(6 marks) At the moment we haven’t looked at the NHSP but you can consider: What exists at St John’s to ensure students stay healthy?

Who is involved? The simple answer is everybody. It is a whole-school-approach involving children, parents, school staff and the whole school community. It is intended to make a difference to the health and achievement of young people… ….by enabling them to make informed health and life choices.

The four main areas Personal, social and health education. Healthy Eating Physical Activity Emotional health and wellbeing

Personal, Social & Health Education Sex and relationship education as well as drug education. Contributes to the 5 National Curriculum outcomes. – Staying Safe – Being Healthy – Enjoy and achieve – Economic wellbeing – Make a Positive contribution Provides students with knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes to make informed decisions.

Healthy Eating Enables students to make informed healthy food choices. Healthy and nutritious food and drinks are available across the school day. The NHSP and School Food Trust work together to support this area. The School Food Plan The School Food Plan Video
