California State Lands Commission Funding Commission received a Coastal Impact Assistance Program Fund grant of $700K for its Hazards Removal Program. Commission authorized to spend up to $245K in FY Additional hazards recently uncovered. Hazards removal effort currently in progress already depleted all of $245K in the current Fiscal Year. Commission staff requested authorization for all of the remaining funds ($455K) to be available in FY Yesterday received authorization. 4

California State Lands Commission Limited funding ($700K). Inadequate for removal of all identified hazards. Continue efforts to seek funding from other, to be determined, sources. Shifting sands and beach erosion expose new hazards. Recent storm of March 18-20, 2011 exposed additional hazards that were not known before resulting in better access, but also increased cost for additional removal. Funding Procurement is very difficult and time consuming. Permits and contracts have to be renewed. 9 Issues and Concerns
