Presentation transcript:

 BANKSY is an artist living in London, UK. He has kept his identity a mystery – but his artwork pops up around the place. It is highly valued and always has a message. Have a look at some of his work – and the work of other Stencil Artists to get some inspiration…

We are going to learn how to make stencils – to create art work like this WE ARE ONLY DOING THIS ON PAPER – You must sign an agreement that you will NOT do this onto PUBLIC PROPERTY You can be arrested for GRAFFITI – this is only to be done IN SCHOOL – ON PAPER and canvas. We will read over the steps on how to do this together – it is tricky, so be patient – and get creative!!

Make sure your photograph is SIMPLE. Just use a FACE And make it fun and sensible

 Open photoshop  Make sure you can see your photo in the program. Make it smaller.  Crop it if you have to  Make the photo BLACK AND WHITE – Image – Mode - GRAYSCALE

 Make your image a STAMP by clicking – FILTER – SKETCH – STAMP – click OK  Your image should look like this:

 Save your image. Save it to your ART folder – make sure you name it something that you will remember.

 Open up WORD  Insert a picture – find your image, and insert it into your word document.  Make sure it fits on 1 page  CHECK with Mrs Smith to make sure the image is OK  If allowed – PRINT in black and white

 Tape your image to some ACETATE paper  Prepare your tools – BE SAFE, use a stanley knife in front of an ADULT and use a cutting board.  Cut out all of the BLACK parts. Be careful and safe at all times

 Now you will have a stencil. It should be able to be held in one hand – with nothing falling off.

 Stick your stencil to your paper  Choose your paint  Roll your roller in the paint  Roll your roller over your stencil  Peel your stencil off carefully  Allow to dry –  Think about how you can re-use your stencil on the same piece of paper to create a different effect.
