Presentation transcript:

Negative space, in art, is the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. The use of negative space is a key element of artistic composition. In a black-and-white image, a subject is normally depicted in black and the space around it is left blank (white), thereby forming a silhouette of the subject.

Create a piece that shows Negative space Using black and white paper cut out the designs: you can use my stencils as a starting point. Once you have cut out all your shapes and overlapped them begin to add pattern to the black and white sections using the white pencil and black fine liner This is a photo of leaves on a branch with black and white contrast makes them stand out.
