African elephants have skin, but not like are kind of skin, because their skin is 2 inches thick. They have trunks that are 18 to 21ft long, and their tusks start to grow at age 1 and keep growing 7 inches each year. Movement One side of the four legs move forward the other side does the same. They don’t move that fast, other animals can walk a lot faster than elephants. Diet The African elephants are bark, roots, crops, herbivores. The African elephants are 10 years old when they go off on their own. A baby elephant is called a calf, the calves weigh between pounds when their born. At birth a calves trunk has no muscle, therefore it will suck through its mouth. It takes several months for a calf to gain full control of its trunk. A picture of the animal as a baby or young.
