Using sensors with Flowol 2

There are 2 ways that you can use sensors with Flowol 2 software. 1.You can use SIMULATION mode – when you use a MIMIC 2.You can use a temperature or light sensor with an INTERFACE On this mimic there are 2 sensors – one for light level, and one for temperature. Which is which?

You can change the value of a sensor on a mimic by clicking on it with the mouse. Clicking with the LEFT button increases the value in steps of 10. Clicking with the RIGHT button decreases the value in steps of 10. Click on the picture to see this happen. 1.Using a mimic in SIMULATION mode

Light sensor Temperature sensor These are the sensors that you can use with Flowol 2 and the interface. They plug into the sockets marked Sensors on the interface. 1.Using a sensor and interface

In simulation mode you are limited to only being able to use steps of 10. If you have an interface you can use real time measurements that are much more accurate. To do this you need to: 1.Connect up the interface 2.Click on Control > and remove the tick next to Simulate. 1.Now click on Window > Large Monitor to bring up this menu.

1.Click on the arrow next to the sensor number you want to use. 2.This will bring up a menu showing the choices. 3.Choose the one you want to measure. This is now set to measure temperature in degrees Centigrade using sensor 1, and light in percentage using sensor 2.

Load the mimic – lightsense1, connect up a light sensor to sensor socket 1 and set the large monitor. Now click on Run on the tool bar. The value on the mimic should start changing. Point the sensor at a light – what is the value? Cover the sensor with your hand – what happens to the value?
