To select contiguous slides:  Click the first slide.  Press Shift while you click the last slide in the selection. To select noncontiguous slides:  Click the first slide.  Press Ctrl while you click each slide you want to add to the selection, one at a time. 4 1 Exercise 3-1 Figures 3-1 and 3-2

 You can rearrange slides using several methods: – Slide View – Slide Sorter – Outline View  Click and drag to re-position your slide 5 1

 From the Home tab, in the Slides group, click the Section button, and choose Add Section.  Short-cut—Right-click, choose Add Section 6 1 Figure 3-4 Section button Untitled section

 To delete slides, select them on the Slides tab and use one of these methods: – Press Delete on your keyboard – Click the Cut button on the Home tab, in the Clipboard group. – Short-cut—right-click, Delete 7 1 Exercise 3-4

 Cut. The selected text or object is removed and stored on the Clipboard.  Copy. The selected text or object remains in its original place, and a copy is placed on the Clipboard.  Paste. A copy of the item is placed at the location of the insertion point, and the item remains on the Clipboard.  Duplicate. A copy of the item is made on the same slide, and a copy is placed on the Clipboard 9 2

 The Clipboard holds up to 24 items at a time.  Clipboard items are viewed and managed by using the Clipboard task pane. – Home tab, Clipboard group, click the launcher  Delete does not save items to the Clipboard. 10 2

Keyboard short-cuts:  Ctrl+ C – To Copy  Ctrl+ X – To Cut  Ctrl+ V – Paste  Ctrl+ D – Duplicate 11 2

 On the Slides tab, select the slide you need to move. – From the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the Cut button. – This removes the slide and stores it on the Clipboard.  On the Slides tab, select the slide you want to precede the new slide. – Click the Paste button. – The cut slide is inserted after the selected slide Exercise 3-5 Figure 3-5 Number of items in the Clipboard Slide that has been cut

 Select text then press Ctrl + X to cut the text from the slide.  Move to a new position and then click the item you want from the Clipboard to insert that text Exercise 3-6 Figure 3-6

 The Undo button reverses your last action (Up to 20 actions)  Once the Undo button is used, the Redo button appears. – reapplies editing commands in the order you undid them.  Keyboard short-cuts: – Ctrl + Z - To Undo – Ctrl + Y – To Redo 16 2

The Format Painter Button is used to copy character formatting To Copy the formatting one time:  Single-click the Format Painter button on the Home tab, Clipboard group  The mouse pointer changes to a paintbrush with an I-beam pointer  Select the text to be formatted To Copy the formatting multiple times:  Double-click the Format Painter button – To turn OFF the Format Painter button Press the ESC key Click the Format Painter button 17 2

 Spelling is an excellent proofreading tool, but careful proofreading and editing are still required  Right-click a word with a red wavy underline and choose the correct spelling  Press F7  Click the Spell-Check button on the Quick Access Toolbar 19 3 Figure 3-9

Number placed in the lower right corner of notes and handout pages.  Slide number. Number placed on slides, usually in the lower right corner.  Footer. Descriptive text printed at the bottom of slides, notes pages, and handout pages.
