Courses that support focus area This course investigates the questions "Why do people act, think and feel the way they do?". Topics may include perception, memory, intelligence, motivation, learning, emotional and intellectual growth, conditioning and personality, normal and abnormal behaviour, group processes, peer pressure, aggression and conformity, socialization and child development. The theories of some prominent psychologists are examined. Students may be involved in an extensive field study program designed to connect theory to practice.

Courses that support focus area This course meets outside regular class time. Students take a leadership role in assemblies, school dances, Spirit Days and other activities during the year.

Courses that support focus area This course will be offered to those students who enjoy helping others, have a solid academic standing, attend regularly and are conscientious. Peer tutoring provides students with an opportunity to assist other. students by working with an individual student to improve academic performance or with a class to help with daily progress.

Sample course packages Sharon is interested in helping people and doing public speech. My courses support this Focus Area. I took leadership during my free time and I am going to take a tutoring, law and psychology in Grade 12.

Sample course packages Sharon wants to be a lawyer because she likes doing public speech and she is a quick learner. She also can speak Chinese and English. She plans to go to UBC to take psychology or politics as her major, because these two majors helps a lot to go to law school.

Sample course packages Taylor wants to be a lab technician because she is interested in helping other and having a variety of work she can do. During her grade 11 year she enrolled in classes like peer tutoring and law 12. Also she took both chemistry 11 and physics 11 o further her knowledge in sciences.

Sample course packages Taylor is interested in health and Human Services Focus Area because she is interested in helping people. She plans to go to UBC she must complete a two-year general program, following completion of the prerequisite courses.
