Motivation comes from the Latin word "movere" which means a push or move Motivation is a willingness to do high business levels for achieving organizational goals as required by the effort's ability to satisfy some individual needs - Robbins & Coulters (1999)

Motivation can be defined as the power for someone who can cause the level of persistence and enthusiasm in carrying out an activity, whether sourced from within the individual itself (intrinsic), or from outside individuals (extrinsic) Motivation is the process by which behaviors are raised, directed, and maintained over time - Porter and Lawler (1968)

gives purpose, intensity, and persistence in behavior involved when someone chooses to engage in an activity exert some effort in these activities last for a certain period of time in it

behavior toward the achievement of goals or mission of the organization products and services resulting from the behavior associated with the creation of goods, services, or the acquisition of a good value

Feelings or attitudes about the job itself, salary, chance of promotion or education, supervision, co-workers, workload, and others People who are more satisfied with their work tend to engage in organizational citizenship behavior (OCB)
