March / April 2015 Newsletter Only £2 per class. Where else can you get a bargain like that? But remember “The fee isn’t for life it’s ‘til Christmas” to mis-quote the one about the dog. BUT if you keep promoting our groups and the money is enough to meet the bills, it may go on longer. Watch our treasurer’s face to see whether he is smiling. What a pleasant surprise ! “Help ! I need somebody” I have said it many times but we do still need more people to run High Five if it is to have a future. Your committee is getting older & we all have greater responsibilities than we used to have. I have an 85 year old husband. I may not be able to continue to do the massive amount of management I have done. FIVE ALIVE Lift the banner high We now have Vistaprint cards for Singing, Gentle Exercise & Pilates and fliers & banners also for Pilates. We had to spend our grant in the time allotted and only on Pilates. Our website is in the process of being updated by Margaret (our new committee member) with help from Daniel of the Ovenden, Illingworth Initiative. It is to have a new format and a calendar to show when classes are open or closed. Margaret has skills which I lack & we are very glad to welcome her on to the committee A little R & R We will have a holiday for Spring Bank holiday week. Some classes will close in August for volunteer tutors to take some time off & for you to child mind or whatever there is to do in Aug. Our main reason for closing previously was that people just don’t attend in the summer months. Gentle Exercise, Pilates & Scottish Dancing will NOT be in operation during August. However some classes have opted to open, so check with your tutor whether or not your class will be continuing. Please attend if your group is functioning. We don’t want to be paying rent & tutor fees for half empty classes. The “high” classes The Art group is to employ a tutor once every two months and, if it goes well, maybe more often. The Gentle Exercise classes have gone down in attendance because of a change for the worse in the health of some of the members. We will be promoting these groups. The Scottish dancers are still keen but numbers are down because of holidays. I think the Pilates Tuesday class is full. Attendance fluctuates for a variety of reasons BUT I am there come rain or shine. The Pilates Thursday group at Highgate has been much harder to fill. Perhaps it is the time of 1-15pm. It was 1-30 but we put it earlier to help someone who had to get back to pick up children from school & then she gave up coming!!!! FIVE ALIVE May / June2015 Newsletter

May / June2015 Newsletter We have a special event on Saturday 20 th June from 2-4pm at Highgate, A Fashion Show with the opportunity to buy. Some of your committee & some of you will become fashion models for an afternoon. We will have scones, jam & cream --- mmm! And the fee---wait for it—is absolutely free. More Scones The LA group at Illingworth have invited us to a strawberry tea on Wed 10 th June 2-4pm. Cost is £1. A speaker will talk about preparing wills & lasting power of attorney, ensuring that your money goes to your loved ones. If you wish to go, please give your name to your group leader so that catering arrangements can be made. All the fun of the Fair This year Mount Tabor Gala will be on Saturday 11 July, 2-4pm behind The New Inn. Margaret will be running a stall to publicise our activities. She’ll also be selling some plants and there’ll be face painting for the little ones. If anyone from the Art Group wants to display their work, please let her know. Lots of lovely forms to complete! Our grant finished 2 weeks after Easter & now we fill in evaluation forms & accounts and present invoices to prove that we have used the money wisely. Thank you CFFC for helping us to support two new classes. Have you updated you Health questionnaire? We don’t have to do them for the Art or Singing groups but our insurers require us to do them for active groups. Well enjoy your classes & your holidays when they come.
