Student Led Conferences Micaela Waynes

Cover Letter Science over the school year has been fairly well for me. This class is definitely the hardest for me, but I try my hardest in this class. Science has been full of many interesting things. Many of these subjects are new to me. Everyday in science I learn something new. For example, some of the things that I have learned throughout science are plate boundaries and minerals. Some things that I have learned about plate boundaries are that there are many different boundaries all over the world. Also there are different types of plate boundaries. The plate boundaries that I have learned about so far are convergent, divergent, and transform boundaries. Some things that I have learned about minerals are the three types of minerals, Igneous, Sedimentary, and Igneous. I also learned how to classify minerals. Some things that I really enjoy in science are the “hands on” labs that we do. I am a type of student that learns better by doing than reading in a text book. Although, one project that I really enjoyed doing was the capzles project because it was really fun and I learned a ton. I also liked how capzles was a new program that I had never used before so it was interesting to find out how it worked. Some thing that I don’t enjoy in science is the reading from the textbook, even though we don’t do that much of it in class, but when we do I don’t enjoy it. I don’t enjoy the reading because, as I said above, I like to learn while doing. I am an active learner so learning about a subject from the textbook loses my attention. I tend to zone out and not really pay attention to what I’m reading. I don’t really comprehend. Aside from that I feel like science is really fun and interesting. All of the subjects really draw to my attention because of the activities that relate to them. I am excited to learn more next quarter.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to complete all the assignments for class. Why? On a scale of one to five I would rate myself a three of my ability to complete all my assignments for class. I would give myself a three because I mainly always do my homework, but occasionally forget to do it. Also I occasionally don’t do some of my class work. I always do projects and turn them in on time though. I feel like I could improve on this in quarter 4.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your class time effort & positive contributions to class discussion(s). Why? On a scale of one to 5 I would rate myself a two on my class time effort and positive contributions to class discussions. I would give myself a three because I rarely participate in 60 Second Science discussions. I also rarely participate in overall class discussions. I should improve on this trait as well in 4 th Quarter.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to work with others in class. Why? On a scale of one to five I would rate myself a four on my ability to work with others. I would give myself a four because I do work well with others but occasionally can get distracted. This causes me to have to do class work at home for homework. I should work on this trait in the 4 th Quarter.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) describe items you want to improve upon for next quarter/year. Why? On a scale of one to five I would rate myself a two. I would give myself a two because I have a lot to improve on for next quarter. Some of the things I need to work on deal with my focus in class. I tend to get distracted and that is hurting my grade overall. I should try to fix this next quarter.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) describe what went well in this school year. Why? On a scale of one to five I would rate myself a five. I would rate myself a five because I do good on projects in class and quizzes as well. One thing I am very proud of that I did well on in class this year was the Minerals Project on Capzles. Overall I feel that this school year so far was ok. There are definitely things I need to work on but my work is done well and the content is there. I just need to focus more on it.
