1. Dialogue Listening ( T/F ) Today we will listen to three passages which are all about exploration. The first is a dialogue about mountain climbing. We all know that mountain climbing is a very hard job. The climber must be well-prepared before he starts the journey and he needs great courage during the journey. Please listen to the dialogue and try to judge whether the following statements are true or false.

1. Dialogue Listening ( T/F ) Now,listen to it again, check your answers and try to find out the reasons for the false statements.

2 . Passage Listening ( Fill in the form ) The second passage is about space exploration. Do you know who were the first men or women arriving on the moon? (停顿一下,环顾学生,于是有学生小声 说: “ 加加林 ” ) Right? (教师又提出一个问题,无人回答) Well, you will know all the answers after you listen to the passage.

2 . Passage Listening ( Fill in the form ) This will be your second listening. Please check your answers, and try to get all the missing information and your spelling correct.

3 . Passage Listening ( Answer the questions ) Just now you have done a very good job.Then we are going to learn something about Christopher Columbus. We all know that he was the first man who believed the world is round and who discovered the new land. But do you know how he did that? What difficulties did he meet with? Let’s listen to the passage. This exercise will be a little difficult, because you will be given the questions after you have listened to the passage twice. So when you listen you must be very careful, and you may write down some notes if you like.

4 . Song Listening ( Write down the missing words ) Columbus’ story tells us it’s very hard for people to do exploration. There is a song about his voyage. Perhaps you have already heard it. Anyway, let’s listen to it and try to find the missing words.

You can check the answers by reading the words appearing on the screen and also try to experience their voyage while you watch the video, for I will ask you to answer a question later. The question is “What can you learn from Columbus’ exploration?”
