Liceo classico e linguistico B. Secusio Caltagirone Comenius project Something from nothing Eco jewellery competition

The competition was open to high school students in Caltagirone. The date of entry was from March 15 th to f May 28 th The aim of the competition was to increase awareness about recycling. Knowing the importance of recycling should be a must for everybody today because being aware of our responsibilities is a step towards saving our planet. Our daily gestures can make a difference, we don’t have to start big. Every effort counts, small or big. And as we become more and more familiar with the habit of recycling, we can find our own creative ways of reducing, reusing and recycling!

The students created some objects revealing all their creativity with little things such as ribbons, buttons, zips, plastic bottles, bottle caps ….. The winners were announced by the headmistress on June,6 th at a meeting.

The winners:first : Sara Ciffo Materials Pieces of plastic material Colours Candle Chain Brooch back Instructions 1 Cut some pieces of plastic material in the shape of flower petals and leaves 2 Paint the pieces as you like 3 Decorate with beads, apply a necklace chain or a brooch back This bracelet and necklace are a beautiful reworking of an oft overlooked material: plastic
