Unit 6: Meteorology What does meteorology actually mean? Do you remember what “-ology” stands for? Think of words you know?

What is Meteorology? The branch of science concerned with the process and phenomena of the atmosphere, especially as a means of forecasting the weather

Station Options (1,2,3 and 5 are TOP PRIORITY!) 1.Tornadoes (BrainPOP with info) 2.Hurricanes (BrainPOP with info) 3.Tornadoes vs. Hurricanes (Must have done stations 1 & 2 first!) 4.Logic Puzzles (Practice for the EC this weekend) 5.Weather Maps (comp. and paper practice) 6.Missing Work (if you have any missing work, you MUST do this station!

Station 1. Tornadoes Go to BrainPOP ornadoes/ Write down the steps of how a tornado forms (feel free to pause and write!) Take the quiz afterwards, write down questions you don’t know

Station 2. Hurricanes Go to BrainPOP rricanes/ Write down the steps of how a hurricane forms (feel free to pause and write!) Take the quiz afterwards, write down questions you don’t know

Station 3. Tornadoes vs. Hurricanes Compare and contrast hurricanes and tornadoes Can use a venn diagram, a frayer model (create for either hurricanes or tornadoes and use the other as the non-example), or a table comparing and contrasting the two

Station 4. Logic Puzzles Alice, Ben, Cathy, and David attended a Thanksgiving Party where turkeys were served. Each of the brought a different side dish, and a different desserts. The side dished each brought were one of the following: Mashed Potatoes, Ceasars Salad, Corn Bread, and Stuffing. The dessert each brought were one of the following: Pumpkin Pie, Ice Cream, Cheese Cake, and Cookies. Clues 1.The person who brought Ceasars Salad also brought Cookies. 2.Ben bought mashed potatoes. 3.Cathy bought ice cream. 4.The person who brought stuffing also brought pumpkin pie. 5.David did not bought cookies. Read the clues to determine who brought what side dish and dessert to Thanksgiving dinner

Station 4. Logic Puzzles Fill in boxes that can’t be true with an X Fill in boxes that show a true relationship (correct person to dessert) with a colored in circle. Using process of elimination, read the clues repeatedly until you can answer who brought what side dish and dessert.

Station 6. Missing Work If you are missing work, you MUST spend one rotation at Station 6! You also will have the opportunity to do units 5 or 6 test corrections. Check in with me for what work you may be missing. Turn in any completed work into the turn-in bin at the front!
