The beauty of the original Imagine standing in front of the most famous painting in the world…Imagine standing in front of the most famous painting in the world… an original Leonardo Da Vinci Masterpiece in Paris… the ‘Mona Lisa’ an original Leonardo Da Vinci Masterpiece in Paris… the ‘Mona Lisa’ No matter how many times you may have already seen it, in class, in art and history books, used in TV adverts, printed on T-shirts…No matter how many times you may have already seen it, in class, in art and history books, used in TV adverts, printed on T-shirts… Nothing will compare with how you feel, face-to- face with the painting… No reproduction can ever be as beautiful as the original.Nothing will compare with how you feel, face-to- face with the painting… No reproduction can ever be as beautiful as the original.

Whose Art is it Anyway? You are to consider the concept of composition within a painting, by incorporating the play between 2D and 3D elements. You MUST BECOME THE ARTWORK! Take a Photo of the composition and present as a finished work. You can use Photoshop to assist you, but not more than 80% of original work should be altered. The Appropriation Game

Artist to Appropriate from choose any suitable artwork from the following artists: 1)Frida Kahlo : 2)Édouard Vuillard: 3)Leonardo Da Vinci: 4)Pierre-Auguste Renoir: 5)Edward Hopper: 6)David Hockney: 7)Gustav Klimt: 8)Pablo Picasso: 9)René Magritte: 10)Édouard Manet:

1) Recreate the scene of the artwork that you have picked! 2) Appropriate the image using yourself and your friends, with props and tools relating to the modern world today. Pay attention to: Lighting Atmospheric feel of work (tones, colours) Expression Location (is it interesting? Does it fit the feel of the original?) Imaginative interpretations and representations of the work (e.g. if there is an old typewriter in the artwork, what would you replace it with in your Appropriation photo?) Whose Art is it Anyway? INSTRUCTIONS

“Truthfulness is problematic in everything, and the camera is no more guilty of being untruthful than anything else.” Sandy Skoglund Example: Use of 3D elements for Final 2D Photography
