Fishing – Really important to Shetland. Shetland is surrounded by sea so it’s easier to catch fish. The weather can cause difficulties for fishing. Oil – Increases job opportunities in Shetland and the oil is important to Shetland. Shetland receives a lot of money through the oil industry. It is a problem that the oil industry needs foreign workers so they need to build houses for them to live in.
