Progress of claiming localities: ~650,000 unique localities (using prototype gazetteer) 3.5 million specimen records total Of these, ~391,700 have been claimed Leaves 40% left to be claimed Of this total, 110,000 are MVZ localities, which have already been georeferenced

Georeferencing Rates on average US localities=~10-20 per hour 1000 localities = 67 hours Foreign localities = ~4 per hour 1000 localities = 250 hours
Make production gazetteer public (projected date is Jan 31, 2004) Institutions download rest of claimed data and georeference those localities Set up servers at institutions soon?
