Longbranch Elementary Volunteer Training Video

Volunteering Requirements 1.Criminal background check. ($10 or $20) 2.Volunteer training. 3.Contact the PTA or your child’s teacher.

Background Check Expiration A criminal background check must be completed once while your child attends each level of schooling in the Boone County Schools or every 6 years your children continue through Longbranch.

Volunteer Training Expiration Volunteer training is considered “one and done” for the duration of time your kids are at Longbranch UNLESS we change components of the volunteer training in which case we will require an update training.

PTA Volunteer Contact Visit the PTA’s website to find all of the current information about the PTA including the name of the volunteer chairperson and any upcoming events.

What Will I Do? You name it! Copy papers Laminate Shelve books Stuff maroon folders Help students with reading or math Chair a committee Help with school events And so much more…

What should I wear? Student dress code applies to parents. Please refrain from: Shirts, shorts, skirts, or pants that are too loose or too tight revealing “too much” for an elementary school environment. Clothing with graphics or wording that is considered vulgar, crass, off-color, profane, or explicit or advertises products illegal for consumption by elementary school students.

How should I behave/act? As an ambassador of Longbranch Elementary. In the best interest of ALL children, not just your children. With respect toward yourself, our students, our staff, and our community members. As a model for our children. With respect of confidentiality of all members of our community.

What’s not okay… Asking students personal questions. Disturbing staff workstations without being asked. Asking staff members personal questions about themselves or the students. Discussing information you learn at school in the community. Taking over for a teacher. Visiting locations that you did not check in for.

What’s the procedure when I arrive to volunteer? 1.Check in at the front desk. This will require you to surrender your driver’s license for the duration of your stay. We will run your license in our School Gate Guardian system against the National Sex Offender Registry. 2.Report to the area you plan to volunteer in. 3.Return to the front desk to check out. Your license will be returned and you will be end- timed for our school.

What’s the procedure for reporting off-campus or after-hours volunteer time? Call Karyn at Let us know your off-site or after-hours time when you are at school.

What if… I see a student teasing another student. I see a staff member do something they should not do. I overhear a conversation at school that concerns me. I overhear a conversation in my neighborhood that concerns me. I have concern for a child’s safety after an encounter at school.

Finally THANK YOU! Have fun! Make their day! Go the extra degree!
