Miles Davis   He was born on May 26, 1926 in Alton, IL.   His father was a dental surgeon.   His mother was a music teacher.   His father introduced the trumpet to him at age 13.   His private tutor encouraged him to play without vibrato, which was contrary to the style of Louis Armstrong.
