Air is composed of:

 What is it? When air contains dust, fumes, chemicals or odors that are in harmful amounts. This can be dangerous to all living organisms.  What causes it? Today various land, sea, and air vehicles cause the majority of emissions Factories and Manufacturing industries Household and Farming Pesticides

 Dust  Ground level ozone  Carbon monoxide  Sulfur oxides  Nitrogen oxides  Lead  VOC’s  Emissions from vehicles  Vapors  Mercury  Soot  Aerosols  Powdered metal  Mold/spores  Pollen

The Asian Brown Cloud may affect all nations of South, Southeast, and East Asia. This refers to a massive cloud of air pollutants so big it can travel the whole world in less than a week! Causes to the Asian Brown Cloud: – Toxic waste from factories – Motor vehicles – Improper cooking fuels – Forests fires Some of the effects include the following: – It alters monsoon patterns – Reduces photosynthesis – Increases human respiratory problems – Reduces solar radiation to the earth’s surface

 For the following slides jot down your thoughts on what you see, what you might feel, what you might taste, hear?  Think about why people live in these areas? What draws them to these cities?

If you had to ride or walk in this what would you feel?

 Talk with your group (or complete solo) and answer the following prompts (8 to 10 sentences per prompt) : How is the quality of air threatened? And how does this effect living organisms? With all the air pollution what is a logical solution to help deplete it, to turn it? With many countries and states projecting ‘Green Cities’ what would be the outcome of such cities? Would they fail? Succeed? What can you do here in the states to help with our air pollution?
