THE SOLAR SYSTEM Colton Morgan Baleigh

Mercury Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Type a brief overview or summary of your project here. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. A year on Mercury is 88 days long. Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system. Mercury has wrinkles. Only two spacecraft have visited Mercury.

Venus A day on Venus lasts longer than a year. Type a brief overview or summary of your project here. A day on Venus lasts longer than a year. Venus is called Earth’s sister planet. Venus rotates in the opposite direction than other planets. Venus is the second brightest object in the night sky. Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system.

Earth Earth was formed 4.54 billian years ago. Type a brief overview or summary of your project here. Earth was formed 4.54 billian years ago. It is the only planet that has life. It is the only planet not named after a god. The Earth’s rotation is gradually slowing. The Earth was once believed to be the center of the universe.

Mars Mars is home to the tallest mountain. Type a brief overview or summary of your project here. Mars is home to the tallest mountain. Only 18 missions to Mars have been successful. Mars has the largest dust storms in the solar system. On Mars, the sun seems to be half the size that it appears to be on Earth. Pieces of Mars have fallen to Earth.

Jupiter Jupiter has the shortest day of all planets. Type a brief overview or summary of your project here. Jupiter has the shortest day of all planets. Jupiter orbits the sun once every 11.8 Earth years. The Great Red Spot is a huge storm. Jupiter has a thin ring system. Eight spacecraft have visited Jupiter.

Saturn Saturn can be seen with the naked eye. Type a brief overview or summary of your project here. Saturn can be seen with the naked eye. Saturn is the flattest planet. Saturn orbits the sun every 29.4 Earth years. Saturn has ovel shaped storms. Saturn has the most extensive ring system.

Uranus Uranus was officially discovered in 1781. Uranus turns on its axis once every 17 hours, 14 minutes. Uranus makes one trip around the sun every 84 Earth years. Uranus is often referred to as an “ice giant” planet. Uranus hits the coldest temperature of any planet.

Neptune Neptune spins on its axis very rapidly. Type a brief overview or summary of your project here. Neptune spins on its axis very rapidly. Neptune is the smallest of the ice giants. Neptune has 14 moons. Neptune has a very active climate. Only one spacecraft has flown by Neptune.
