Creating Broken Views in Pro/E Prepared by Peter Stockhausen Senior Design Analyst Infotech Aerospace Services 1 The selected view is to long to fit on the drawing sheet. To break it to fit the page, first selected it, click the right mouse button, then: Note these instructions are based on WF2

Creating Breaks- Selecting the command 2 2. Click Visible Area 3. Click Broken View 1. Click Properties 4. Click +

Creating Breaks- First Break Point You are prompted to “Sketch a horizontal or vertical break line” Zoom in on the portion of the view you wish to keep in its current position and click on the place where you want the break. 3

Creating Breaks- Second Break Point You are then prompted to “Pick a point to define the second break line. Zoom out and then zoom in or pan over to where you want the other side of the break and click where you want the break. Click Apply 4

Creating Breaks- Initial Result 5 The resulting views are shown here. Note that the breaks appear to be straight lines, to control the appearance of the breaks, select either of the views and return to the Visible Area section of the dialog box.

Controlling Breaks- Break Options 6 Pull the horizontal scroll bar over and select the “Break Line Style”. Your choices are: Straight Sketch S-curve on view outline S-curve on geometry Heartbeat on view outline Heartbeat on geometry

Controlling Breaks- Sketch 7 To sketch a break, select the sketch option and sketch a spline at the first break, click OK to accept the option.
