Purdue Adult Student Network

Fall 2009 PAS NETWORK CALL-OUT MEETING

PAS Network Officers KIM – Vicepresident, MARIA – President and ANN - Treasurer

What is PAS Network? The purpose of this organization is to provide a means of contact for non-traditional students seeking to network with individuals of similar backgrounds. This organization will also be a means to promote personal benefit in the advising of other group members. This group is also intended to bring the non-traditional student in touch with other non-traditional students for activities and social events.

What do we do? Provide social opportunities and support for adult students. Provide information to adult students about resources available for them in our community, these could include: financial, academic, social support, family, and recreational resources.

Guest Speaker Matthew Leon President of Purdue Association of Leaders "Motivating Yourself & Others Within an Organization" Research shows that students who are involved in at least one campus organization are happier people.

Benefits of joining PAS Network Only network on Campus that targets non- traditional students. We recognize that your responsibilities and demands differ from regular students. We provide a social network around these challenges.

What you want… Daytrips (Indy, Chicago etc), Movie night, Ice cream social, Holiday parties, all the events to have games and fun for kids as well let parents sit and chat, mixers, picnics. Potlucks, bowling, hikes, bike trails, parties. Study sessions, informal gatherings for sharing useful info, where to or who to call about tutors, study skills sessions Advice for financial planning/aid Coffee-meet at a chocolate shop Informational speakers talking about adjusting to college and job opportunities, seminars or activities to develop leadership skills. Adult Job Fair

Meetings One Social Function a month. One Informational Session a month.  October 22  Informational Session  October 24 and/or 30  Halloween Party

What can you do? Network/build/maintain good relationships with other adult students Welcome other adult students Help maintain/improve our level of community involvement

Member Dues Membership in the organization will be based on paying said dues of $15 per academic year and 10 per semester.
