The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Republic of Poland, the Rector of the Lodz University of Technology and the President of the Polish Fulbright Alumni Association have the honour to invite to the conference Women in Science- the Tradition of Maria Skłodowska Curie that will be held from 29 th to 30 th September 2016 in Łódź Poland. The meeting will be dedicated to discuss the participation and success of women in a variety of research areas. Statistical data show that although women represent half of the people who gain doctoral degrees in science and engineering, they represent only one-fifth of full professors. Women face obstacles in overcoming successive stages of career e.g.: stereotyping, discrimination in invitation to sit on the scientific advisory boards, boards of start-up companies, boards of technological parks, high positions in academic institutions and universities, discrimination in invitation to scientific conferences as the keynote speakers. In recent years many programs to support women and to promote their achievements were created but there are still a lot to be changed. Contact:
