What are Conquistadors? What are Explorers? Who discovered the “New World?” Why did people come to the “New World?” How did these conquistadors and explorers get to the “New World?” Why do you think it was so important that these people made it to the “New World?”

Spanish Missions (Texas) Religious communities established by Spanish Catholics to convert the Native Americans Friar- Catholic- Member of a religious community of men living under vows. Prisidio- Ordained minister of hierarchical Christian Churches (Catholic Minister/Father) Mission- Only accepted religion in Spain during the exploration and colonization periods. Secondary Sources- A military base (fort) Filibusters- Military adventurers who came to Texas from the US in the early 1800’s Primary Sources- is a document, speech, or other sort of evidence written, created or otherwise produced during the time under study.
