Science at Junior Cycle Science is changing! Have your say… We would like to hear what students have to say about Science so that the new course is interesting and exciting for students.
Some of the big ideas for science in junior cycle Students learning to investigate interpret scientific evidence explain phenomena scientifically appreciate the importance of science in society.
Learning about inquiry Learning about inquiry is more than just doing experiments. It involves you being able to recognise, describe and evaluate the design, practices and conduct of scientific inquiry.
Learning to interpret scientific evidence You would be able to analyse and evaluate scientific information, claims and arguments and draw appropriate conclusions. 6
Learning to explain phenomena scientifically. 7 You would be able to recognise, offer and evaluate explanations for a range natural and technological phenomena.
Learning about science in society. 8 Students would learn the importance of making informed decisions in relation to a range of challenges that concern us all in society and to identify possible responses and solutions to these.
