Rotary Dial Phones were home phones that used a circular dial to enter phone number digits instead of the push button pad that became popular in the 1980s  Even though push button phones had been around since 1963, during the 1970’s Rotary style phones were still the most common.  People did not own their home phones, they leased them from the phone company. From 1960 until 1980, Almost every household in America had a phone that looked EXACTLY like this. (some were Avocado Green, and some were Black)
