Mission of IPDA* “Facilitate global access to, and exchange of, high quality scientific data products managed across international boundaries” Support construction of compatible archives Support sharing of tools and software services Define “data standards within the IPDA, including the data models and derived dictionaries, based on the NASA Planetary Data System (PDS) that is the de-facto standard for all planetary data at the time of the IPDA founding” * Extracted from IPDA Charter, July 2007

History: ~2005 Bangalore, July 11-13, 2012Seventh IPDA Steering Committee NASA Standard : Planetary Data System (PDS) In 1980s, a data system was set up for planetary related data. The definitions should be updated with recent technologies. ESA Standard : Planetary Science Archive (PSA) ESA established this archive based on the ‘NASA/PDS”, which was still an local rule. It required a lot of communication with PDS. Russia, JAXA, ISRO, CNSA, … were also just a timing for Long-lived Archives.

Part IV: Action Items from Sept 2011 Review TEG membership and let Pedro/Dan know if out of date Jesus and Pedro to produce a standard template for extensions to PDAP and pass to the fly-by-product project. Send out the PDAP extension for fly-by-product to the TEG mailing list Pedro will pre-book the TEG meeting every two months and to the TEG Align PDS4 model and software classes in PDAP What are the return types for PDAP? TEG formulate a proposal for submission to the SC for review. Also consider including other items pertinent for the SC to review prior to submission of PDAP.
