Your Mission…  Check DUTY & RELOCATION Schedules for each day.  Look for your name for each day.  Look for conflicts, notify Jean Landry immediately!  If you are reading directions 1 st period, pick up a manual today.  Use Control F to find your name/room number

Test Schedule – May 6, 8 & 10  9 th & 10 th test Math/Soc. Studies/Science in Alpha Classrooms  At 7:50, take roll, read directions, start test by 8:08  On Regular Bell Schedule, periods 4 & 5 reversed  11 th & 12 th attend regular classes  some classes relocated; some students orphaned  Students will remain in the testing rooms until 12:08  Guthrie students attend classes at GC

Test Schedule Late Start testing  students who come to classroom after testing has started should be sent the attendance office

Test Procedures & My Responsibilities All tests must be administered in strict accordance with the instructions contained in the test administration manual.

Test Security & Confidentiality  Read your manual (available online & here)  All testing personnel must be trained  Sign in = your signed oath  No viewing or discussing test contents before, during or after the test  You may not provide assistance, directly or indirectly, to students during the test (check walls and halls)  Do not change or ask a student to change an answer!

Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  30:1 ratio  Walls and Halls – your responsibility!  “Testing Do Not Disturb” Place sign on your outside doors  Seating Charts Document the START and STOP time Every adult must sign in with times indicated First and last names for each student Document movement of students during testing Document date and test given

Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  Read what the manual SAYS  Answer documents are pre-coded  Make sure the right student gets the right test and answer document  Manage time during the 4 hour STAAR/EOC tests using the provided script and record sheet

Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  Active monitoring – This is HUGE!!  Students must stay seated and may not talk while others are still testing  Remind students to record answers on answer document  Only students may erase stray marks No bubbling of name or demographic info No bubbling of score codes  No electronic devices allowed during the 4 hour testing window, PERIOD!

Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  No translating  No rephrasing  No assisting students  No discussing the test  No leaving the testing room without another trained person taking your place

Ensure Proper Testing Procedures  If students change testing rooms, trained adults must carry testing materials  Fire Alarms Exit building as usual Take care of testing materials  No electronic devices No Cell phones No iPods/MP3 players, etc No eBooks (Nooks, Kindles, iPads etc.)  After testing students may read or rest  If a student leaves campus, testing cannot be resumed

Active Monitoring This is the most important thing during testing! Everyone is responsible for ACTIVE MONITORING Walk around, pay attention to students Most frequently reported violations across Texas  accepting blank answer documents  Failure to detect/prevent student misbehavior

MHS Issues  Use of technology during testing window Cell phones Laptops  Rooms unprepared for testing  Backpacks/cell phones not placed in front of room away from testers  Testers seated too close to one another without dividers  Teachers reporting to duty late or not at all

Testing Irregularities Two types - Serious and Procedural Serious: must be reported to TEA Some examples are:  Directly or indirectly assisting students  Tampering with student responses  Viewing secure test content before, during or after test administration  Discussing secure test content  Scoring student tests  Duplicating, recording or capturing electronically secure test content

Testing Irregularities Procedural: must be reported to SBISD  Improper accounting for secure materials  Failure to actively monitor  Accepting blank answer documents  Failure to honor the 4 hour testing session  Failure to read the script in the testing manual  Failure to be trained

Testing Violations  If there is a suspected testing violation, report it immediately!! It is your responsibility to report test violations, better to be safe than sorry  If you are having difficulty with a student, report it immediately!!  Call Command Central at ext. 2542

Penalties for Prohibited Conduct  See page 19 (STAAR) Restrictions placed on teaching certificate Reprimand Suspension of teaching certificate Cancellation of teaching certificate for a set term or permanently

Test Materials Pick Up  Alpha Teachers prepare room for testing  1 st Period test administrators pick up test materials each testing day in main office  2 copies of roster Attendance – clip at door Return in bin – marked with absences  Official materials sign out and sign in each day of testing

EOC Test… Different Rules  Post and announce time remaining at intervals during testing (script)  It is permissible to remind students to: Stay on task Record answers on answer doc  Highlighters & Scratch Paper are ALLOWED  Extra time for some (SpEd, 504, ELLs)

Test Directions  Directions for ALL tests begin on page 83. Pay close attention, there are boxes that are READ or NOT, depending on the test administered.  For math and some science tests, reference materials (formula charts) are provided in test booklets (discussed on pg 87 in manual)

STAAR/EOC Test Info  Testing done by Alpha group AND course specific with some variations  4 hour time limit (except for special groups)  Start right away, no announcement will be made  Write times on provided Time Sheet & Seating Chart  Post and announce time remaining at intervals during testing (script)

STAAR Test Info Math EOCs (4 hour time limit)  testing done by Alpha group NOT course specific  Roster will indicate which student needs which test and answer document (Alg I, Geometry or Alg II )  Students asked to bring graphing calc to test, some graphing calcs will be provided

STAAR Test Info Social Studies EOCs (4 hour time limit)  testing done by Alpha group NOT course specific  Roster will indicate which student needs which test and answer document (World Geography, World or US History)

STAAR Test Info Science EOCs (4 hour time limit)  testing done by Alpha group NOT course specific  Roster will indicate which student needs which test and answer document (Biology, Chemistry or Physics)  Students asked to bring calc (graphing/ scientific) to test, some graphing calcs will be provided

State Minimum Requirements for Calculators  A graphing calculator for each student taking: Algebra I Geometry Algebra II  A graphing or scientific calculator for each student taking: Chemistry Physics  A calculator available for every five students taking Biology

Calculators for Testing Math & Science EOCs (9 th /10 th ) – May 6 & 10  Students asked to bring graphing calc to test, some MHS graphing calcs will be provided  Clearing Calculators – students must show memory cleared before and after testing for graphing calcs  Calc data from 9 th & 10 th Alpha Teachers

Graphing Calculators Not Allowed  Calculators not allowed: TI 89 TI-nspire CAS any calc with a QWERTY keyboard Any calculator with internet access

During the 4 Hour Test Block If students finish early:  Check answer document to be sure each STUDENT: wrote in test booklet # for the test bubbled in Test Form # bubbled in ALL answers in correct section erased ALL stray marks  Be sure YOU bubble: Test Date Score Code S for all PRESENT students

During the 4 Hour Test Block  After testing, students may read or rest  Absolutely no electronic devices permitted IF all test materials have been returned to the main office, then students may quietly work independently on school work WITHOUT electronic devices.

After the 4 Hour Test Block  After 4 hours, have students: Stop writing Place answer document inside test booklet Remain seated and quiet until all materials have been collected  Check answer document to be sure each STUDENT: wrote in Test booklet # for the test bubbled the FORM # for the appropriate test bubbled in ALL answers in correct section erased ALL stray marks  Be sure YOU bubble: SCORE CODE for the appropriate test for all PRESENT students DATE of test (06, 08 or 10 for May 6, 8 or 10)

Returning Materials  Separate answer docs & test booklets each day Test booklets in NUMERICAL order Answer docs in ALPHA order Unused answer docs on top  Test materials may be returned by any certified teacher as long as someone monitors the classroom

Restroom Area Monitors Your job is very important! Eyes and ears in the hallways Notice classroom doorways/Need for help Do not be afraid to call Command Central Restrooms - Timed test so please escort students into restrooms as a group if needed and monitor conversations in doorway

Change Test Administrators  Adhere to the scheduled duty times as diligently as possible…each relies on the other.  Sign and write times on the seating chart  Actively Monitor  You are the responsible teacher during this time.

We Need YOU!!!!  Study the testing Duty/Assignment documents from Jean Landry for May 6, 8, and 10  Study the Room Relocation sheet  ALL are impacted in some way (AP teachers & 5 th Period conference teachers)  Know your role and responsibilities  Be prompt to your assigned duties  Alpha Teachers prepare rooms for testing  1 st Period Testing Teachers pick up test materials each testing day  Talk to your students about the details of the upcoming testing!

A Few Last Things  Have students erase stray marks  All bubbling of answers must occur within the 4 hour testing window  Check walls and halls  Monitor restroom passes – do NOT send students to restrooms during passing periods  Call ext if you need assisitance  Start right away, no announcement will be made No Homework for 9 th & 10th
