INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS COMMITTEE UPDATE
OUR PURPOSE Service Above Self is the basis of Rotary and extends beyond our own community. To expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach and promote world understanding around the globe. To bring forward ideas for international projects, to find other Rotary Club partners and to determine which projects the Rotary Club of Alexandria will sponsor. To write grant applications, monitor and document the projects.
OUR BUDGET In term, the Board approved a budget of $9000 from Club Funds raised during the year + direct contribution of $200. Applied & received $2000 from District 7610 for a District Designated Fund Grants in term. In For we have applied for a DDF Grant of $2500.
HOW WE HAVE USED OUR BUDGET Contributed to 6 International Projects during past 12 months – 3 Direct Contributions to worthy projects 2 Global Grants in partnership with other clubs (minimum $30K budget, District matches our funds 100%, RI matches our funds at 50%) 1 District Designated Funds Grant completed (offered annually) 1 District Designated Funds Grant applied for and pending for

UPCOMING PROJECTS Mbabane, Swaziland, Africa – Dental Clinic in March of Application has been submitted for a $2500 District Designated Funds Grant. Bangladesh Vision Project. The Towsontowne Md., club presented to us on 5/10. We are considering contributing towards a Global Grant.
GOALS FOR To increase our budget with the board to at least $10,000 To support worthy projects at $1000 to $2500 each To identify and initiate a Global Grant with a budget of $30K, find partner clubs to participate, so that we can leverage District & RI matching funds To have at least one fundraising event with all funds going to international projects
