PROGRAMS & SERVICES Navy CYP offers the following quality programs and services to eligible patrons: Child Development Centers (CDC) Child Development Centers (CDC): child care for ages 6 weeks to 5 years Child Development Homes (CDH) Child Development Homes (CDH): ages 4 weeks to 12 years 24/7 Centers 24/7 Centers: childcare for military personnel working non- traditional work hours (e.g., shift workers) School-Age Care (SAC) School-Age Care (SAC): before and after-school programs and camps for ages 5-12 years Youth & Teen Programs Youth & Teen Programs: developmental and recreational programs for ages 5-18 years

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS 2 CYP Expectations Personal Behavior and Conduct Preparing for Your Internship

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS CYP Operations are 12 Hours: Shifts will vary – Don’t expect a standard M-F 8am - 5pm Shift. Exposure to all lines of Service: Child Development Center (CDC), School Age Care (SAC) /Youth, Teens, Fitness, and Sports: – some are not available at all locations. Program and Professional Goals: both interns and mentors will have goals and objectives to achieve. Interns Ratios: interns are allowed in ratio when the specific task assignment requires(e.g. working in the classroom implementing a curriculum, leading and activity) – may not be in ratio 100% of time. Interns are Volunteers not Employees: you may lead a project, event or activity, or become a team leader, but you may not supervise others or become the “coordinator” of a program (e.g., Teen Employment).

LOGISTICS & TRAVEL 3 Travel Claims & Meal Allowance

TRAVEL CLAIMS & MEAL ALLOWANCE Meal allowances are processed bi- weekly. There is lag for first meal allowance – be prepared! To receive a meal allowance, a strict schedule and process must be followed.

TRAVEL VOUCHER OR SUBVOUCHER (Top of Form: Personal Information) Verify your Personal Information here (Items #2 -7). Mark through errors – write corrections in ink And initial changes on your form. Each intern has an individualized TRAVEL VOUCHER OR SUBVOUCHER to cover each pay period of the internship. This section includes personally identifiable information for each intern (e.g., Name, Address, Last 4 of SSN, Banking Instructions). This form is used to validate the hours worked and authorizes the processing and payment of the meal allowance each pay period. All Meal Allowances are Direct Deposit.

TRAVEL VOUCHER OR SUBVOUCHER (Middle of Form) First date of travel & Home Address Where you First Arrived to Await Transportation to get to Destination Arrived to your destination City and Destination Lodging Depart your destination city enroute to your home to mission complete Total # of Miles from Home to Airport (one way); total Miles from Air port to Home for return Item 15 is where all the details of your travel is recorded. Columns (a) represents the year of travel and the below blocks represents the Month/Date and columns (b-f ) captures all the specifics.

TRAVEL VOUCHER OR SUBVOUCHER (Bottom of Form) Verify all the information on the form is correct. Tape receipts to a blank sheet of printer paper. Sign, date, and Submit to your Mentor. Item 18 is where you place your baggage fees for reimbursement. Be sure to put the date of the charge. Receipts are required and they must be attached. No other charges are reimbursable (e.g., gas, food, or hotel). Item 20a is where you sign. YOU are the CLAIMANT. And the Date of the Signature 20b is the “TD” or Temporary Duty reason for stop date listed on YOUR Travel Voucher in your folder. 20 C, D, and E is all relevant to your mentor.

They may begin work on the first Monday of the internship and must end work the day prior to their travel day! Meal Allowances are for a 14-day time period. Below is the timeframe for each of the Meal allowance periods covered. The first day of the internship is a “travel day” and the last day of the internship is a “travel day” they are not listed on the table below.

The intent of this internship is to explore the Entry and Mid-Level Management Positions. The majority of mentors will hold the “gold” positions.
