Session Objectives Understand how to read and draw organisational structure diagrams.

Types of Organisation Structure There are two types of organisation structure Flat Hierarchical An organisation which has a flat structure is said to have few levels of management within it, An organisation with many levels of management is said to be hierarchical.

Exercise Read pages 1-5 of chapter 9 from the business studies text book (available on my website) and attempt the questions on pages 2, 5 and 6 For the scenario below draw an organisational structure diagram A branch manager runs a shop selling kitchens. Within each shop there are 3 sections, each with a section head who reports to the branch manager. Each section head is responsible for their own section and staff who work within it. The table below shows who works in each section.
