Team Hogwarts EED 515 – Dr. Raymond Brie Monday, 7pm CA2 CLASS PORTFOLIO

RA1-My Educational Philosophy Reflection I really liked this assignment because it made me think about my goals and ideas about teaching. I think it is helpful to have a philosophy that is constantly being built upon and added to as one gains more experience in the field. I think that the philosophy that I have here is a good starting point, but I know that as I progress through the credential program and eventually start teaching, my philosophy might be altered or changed.

RA2-Cover Letter and References Reflection This cover letter has been extremely helpful for me in the past couple of weeks. I have applied for TA positions and this cover letter is easy to modify for the positions I am applying for. The main body of the cover letter has stayed the same, I just change the name of the school and who I am writing to and the position I am applying for. This is one of the most useful assignments when applying for jobs within the field of Education.

RA3: Resume and Personal Narrative Reflection Before doing this assignment, I had a resume that I thought was professional and accurate. However, I think this resume is better because it highlights key skills and experiences that relate to teaching, technology, and working with children. I had never done a personal narrative before but really enjoyed creating it. It was at time difficult to decide what I should put into the narrative and what I should leave out. However, I figured it out and I think having this personal narrative is a good thing to bring into a job interview. The personal narrative combined with the cover letter and the resume gives the employer a better idea of who I am and what I have to offer.

RA5 - Professional Development Reflection This was a very useful exercise to become aware of the many national and state organizations that exist to support teachers. These web sites are a great resource for professional development and for help in creating lesson plans across all disciplines. These web sites also provided a variety of perspectives from cultural to differentiated learning to English language learners and are a wonderful reference for us to use as we experience teaching with a diverse student base.

The California Subject Matter Projects are especially pertinent references as many originate within the Los Angeles area and we might be able to become directly involved. RA5 - Professional Development

RA6-Government Scavenger Hunt Reflection I really enjoyed doing this assignment. This is a really wonderful way to assess students’ knowledge at the end of a lesson in a really fun and enjoyable way. The questions were formatted very much like they would be in a quiz, but it was presented as a game. As I was doing it, I also discovered many web resources useful in teaching history and government that I think will help me as a teacher.

RA11-Parent/Teacher Conference Flyer Reflection This assignment was really helpful. Every teacher has to send letters and tear- offs to parents. In my opinion, this assignment combined both of those things. It also gave me the opportunity to learn how to fit text within a border in a “Word” document, which I have never done before.

RA12-Tri-Fold Brochure Reflection I really enjoyed doing this assignment. I loved having the opportunity to be creative (and incorporating our Hogwarts theme into our work. I remember learning how to make these brochures in “Word” when I was younger and I was really glad to have the opportunity to refresh my mind about how to make them. I love getting to do work that is creative and colorful.

Reflection The Invent To Learn book provided a very different viewpoint of teaching and really extended the idea of project-based learning to become more of an immersive experience. The book was grounded in practical, real- world applications for immediate use and was extremely informative about current products and technologies that we could use in the classroom today. I think these projects are an exciting way to promote critical thinking and this book provides a great blueprint for teachers to follow. RA13 - Invent To Learn

RA 14Writing a Lesson Plan RA 14-Writing a Lesson Plan

Reflection RA14 was a valuable assignment in which we applied technology with a lesson, focusing on a science based common core. It helped develop and conceptualize building a lesson plan around technology. As future educators, learning these basics will help us have a more creative approach for when we actually apply it in our everyday lessons.

RA 15-Lesson Plan Presentation Reflection RA15 was the conceptualizing of RA14. It help us developed what we ae trying to teach to our students and what approach we want to teach in. By building a presentation based on our lesson plan, our lesson plan came to life in which we would be able to go step through step in our lesson plan and would match that of our presentation.

RA16 – Introduction to Peer Learning Reflection Our class blog was a great way to interact with my fellow students in the class and I enjoyed reading the differing perspectives. It would be great if we could continue to communicate and share ideas as we progress through our CSUN education. This is my first semester in the program and I liked meeting and collaborating with other students. It makes this experience richer and less isolating. The articles and videos were quite varied and I especially liked the ones which highlighted a particular school and its implementation of technology or project based learning.

RA16 – Introduction to Peer Learning

RA 19- Learning Tools and Strategies: Google Classroom Reflection RA 19 was very useful to everyone because every group received a chance to discuss their topics regarding technology and its usefulness within the classroom. As far as our group, we discussed Google Classroom which is actually a very resourceful application that would come in handy in order to remain organized and to help students remain organized which would be great skills to carry throughout their academic careers and beyond.

THE END Thank you Dr. Brie
