Juru Primary School

These children are from Juru Primary School in Rwanda.

Juru Primary School has a new rainwater harvesting tank which is underground. The rainwater is collected from classroom roofs into rainwater jars. Can you see one in the photograph?

From the rainwater jars, pipes take the water to a huge tank underground. A water pump is used to collect the water.

This is Monique. She says: “Before we had the rainwater harvesting tank, we would get water from the lake. The lake is an hour away and we would go before school and bring the water with us. There was never enough. I would often miss school as collecting water took a long time but now we have safe water to drink at school and I can come every day.”

Thank you for joining We really appreciate your support!
