What is the OFO?  Coded occupational categorisation system used for identifying, reporting and monitoring skills demand and supply in the South African labour market  get updated annually with input from industry  All learning programs, occupations and interventions identified in the SSP have to be aligned to the OFO Organising Framework for Occupations CHIETA, The Catalyst for Enhanced Skills, Economic Growth and Employability

Why the OFO?  Adds value to skills planning and implementation  Provides common language for occupations  Frames jobs in the form of occupations  Groups occupations into successfully broader categories and levels based on similarity of tasks, skill and knowledge Organising Framework for Occupations CHIETA, The Catalyst for Enhanced Skills, Economic Growth and Employability

Job titles more consistent and specific to the output of a position Profile of an occupation broader and informs the position profile and job description Good profile of an occupation provides the basis for the qualification design Occupational and individual skills survey based on occupational profile data → correct OFO alignment and mapping CHIETA 1 st Occupation Profile Dictionary(Dec 2012) to be updated in 2013 OFO & Occupational Profiling CHIETA, The Catalyst for Enhanced Skills, Economic Growth and Employability
