Procedures/Policies Morning Routine: pick up children, unpack, copy homework, take out materials for math All materials for Math, Science & Health are in 5-2 desks. All materials for ELA, S.S. Religion are in the lockers. Homework is printed on the board and available on Sharp School. Bathroom should not be abused. Field Trip: TBA

Math Policies Math homework everyday including weekends. Assessments will be given back in your child’s binder. Sign the trimester sheet & the assessment. All assessments stay in the binder for the entire year. Make sure binder is neat & organized.
Math Policies After every trimester, empty notes section. Vocabulary word ring: should be used as a tool to study. Missing homework: Wanted Slip 3 Missing = Demerit Extra Learning is provided Wednesday morning and during recess as needed.
5 th Grade Math Curriculum Number & Operations in Base Ten Understand the place value system. Perform operations with multi-digit whole numbers and with decimals to hundredths. Operations & Algebraic Thinking Write & interpret numerical expressions. Analyze patterns & relationships.
5 th Grade Math Curriculum Numbers & Operations: Fractions Use equivalent fractions as a strategy to add and subtract fractions. Apply & extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to multiply and divide fractions. Measurement & Data Convert like measurement units within a given measurement system. Represent & interpret data (line plots). Geometric measurement: understand concepts of volume and relate volume to multiplication and to addition.
5 th Grade Math Curriculum Geometry Graph points on the coordinate plane to solve real world & mathematical problems. Classify two-dimensional figures into categories based on their properties.
