Pledge 2 As a lover and disciple of Jesus Christ, I am called to be a reformer, world changer, and history maker. As a reformer, I pledge to advance His Kingdom, fulfill the Great Commission, and live for the glory of God. By His grace, power, authority, I also pledge the following:
Pledge 2 I will lead a holy life, constantly growing in personal wholeness and godly character so that I will please God and not disqualify myself from fulfilling my destiny as a reformer.
1 Peter 1: So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”
Psalm 24:3-6 - Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. 5 They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. 6 Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.
1. THE QUESTION – vs. 3 3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
a) Those who put in the WORK Hebrews 12:14 - …work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
b) Access is LIMITED Ephesians 5:5 - You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
c) The place is HOLY Exodus 3:5 - “Do not come any closer,” the Lord warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.”
2. THE CONDITION - vs. 4 4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
a. We need CLEAN hands 1 Timothy 2:8 - In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.
b. We need a PURE heart Matthew 5:8 – God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.
c. We need UNDEFILED worship Psalm 51:10 – Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
d. We need HONESTY of motive Acts 5:1-5 – “You weren’t lying to us but to God!” 5 As soon as Ananias heard these words, he fell to the floor and died.
3. THE BENEFIT – vs They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. 6 Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.
a. The Lord’s BLESSING Hebrews 11:6 – … Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
b. The Lord’s RIGHTEOUSNESS Psalm 32:1-7 - Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!
c. The Lord’s PRESENCE Exodus 33:16 – … your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.
