NJ ASK POD Jill is painting a mural at school but only has enough paint to cover 75% of the mural. If the wall where the mural is going to be painted measures 10 meters long and 8 meters wide, how much area will NOT be painted? DO NOW A wagon wheel has a diameter of 3 feet. If the wheel rotates 5 times, approximately how far has the wagon traveled?

Objective To demonstrate mastery of lines, angles, and polygons by completing a written assessment with at least 80% accuracy. NJCCCS A.1, E.1 Common Core 7.G.B.4, 7.G.B.5, 7.G.B.6

A transversal is a line that intersects two or more lines. Transversals to parallel lines form special angle pairs.

Line n line p. Find the measure of the angle. 22 2 and the 130° angle are vertical angles. Since vertical angles are congruent, m2 = 130°.

Line n line p. Find the measure of the angle. 33 m ° = 180° –130° m  3 = 50° Adjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines are supplementary. Subtract 130° to isolate m3.

Line n line p. Find the measure of the angle. 44 Alternate interior angles are congruent. m4 = 130°.

Polygon A closed plane figure formed by three or more line segments. PolygonNot a Polygon

Classifying Triangles by Sides Scalene triangle – no congruent (equal) sides Isosceles triangle – two congruent (equal) sides Equilateral triangle – all three sides are congruent (equal)

Classifying Triangles by Angles Right triangle – has exactly one right angle Acute triangle – all the angles are acute. There are no right angles and no obtuse angles. Obtuse triangle – has exactly one obtuse angle

Polygons are classified by the number of sides and angles they have. Triangle 3 sides 3 angles Quadrilateral 4 sides 4 angles Pentagon 5 sides 5 angles Hexagon 6 sides 6 angles Heptagon 7 sides 7 angles Octagon 8 sides 8 angles Nonagon 9 sides 9 angles Decagon 10 sides 10 angles

Divide each polygon into triangles to find the sum of its angle measures. Exit Ticket There are 4 triangles. The sum of the angle measures of a hexagon is 720°. 4 · 180° = 720°
