Aid after a disaster By Kamran and Katie

Types of aid There are two types of aid….. Short term- this is help with things that people need straight away. Basic things people would need to survive right after a disaster. Long term- this is help for a country over a long period of time. It will help rebuild the country after the destruction.

Examples Short term   food and fresh water for survivors   Police to stop looting   Emergency medical care   Medicines from charities   Emergency teams to help find survivors   Homeless people evacuated Long term Rebuilding communication lines Rebuilding homes Training doctors in the country Building properly constructed schools Early warning systems put in place Building earthquake proof buildings in place

Aid in Haiti  Aid in Haiti after the earthquake was medical and rescue teams people in the camps were provided with paid employment, sent over 1000 military forces, $3.5 billion was given to Haiti

How effective was the aid in Haiti?  The aid helped a large number at the time but it hasn’t helped long term because Haiti is still in ruins.
