What is a polar bear’s natural habitat? Where is it in the world? Temperature? Moisture? Shelter? Change the text so it describes the habitat. Insert a picture of the habitat. What about the font and background colour? (Remember to delete these bubbles!)

What does a polar bear eat in the wild? Food chain: grassrabbitfox Put in a food chain that includes a polar bear. You may need to make it longer. If you’re feeling confident, then why not draw a food web instead. Find out a bit more about some of the other living organisms in your animal’s natural habitat. Try and link together a few of the food chains. You may be able to find pictures of some of the other organisms in the food chain.

How is a polar bear adapted to survive? What special features does a polar bear have to help it survive in its habitat? Remember, adaptations may be physical features – how the body is designed – or they may be behavioural. Try to explain why the features are useful, don’t just list them. Pick a few features that you think are most important. Your audience can always ask questions about other features after your presentation!

What is a polar bear’s lifestyle like? Is it active by day or night? What does it spend most of the day doing? Does it live alone or in a group? Is it aggressive, friendly or sociable? Do pairs mate for life? You could do some extra research to find out more about the lifestyle of a polar bear. If it lives in a group, can you find a picture of several animals together to illustrate this section of your presentation?

How does a polar bear reproduce? If it is solitary, how do they find a mate? Does it give birth to live young, or lay eggs? How long does the young animal develop for before it is born or hatches? When are the young usually produced? How much do the parents look after their young? How many young do they have at one time? Could there be a link between these two answers? When you see other presentations, look for a pattern. This will depend on what group a polar bear belongs to, e.g. mammal, reptile, bird.

Just for interest… Use this slide for any unusual facts you have discovered about your animal.

Polar bear conservation Are they endangered? What threats are the threats to the population? How are zoos trying to help? You could do some extra research to find out how many of your animal there are alive, and whether the population is decreasing.
