"Can Recovery Go Up as Funding Goes Down?" MARK GILMAN DISCOVERING HEALTH

YES...

BUT... WE DONT MEASURE RECOVERY... WE MEASURE TREATMENT EXITS... ‘SUCCESSFUL COMPLETIONS’

AND... leaving treatment might have nothing to do with recovery at all

Remember... The treatment system was not designed to get people through and out...

“Don't try to understand 'em just rope and throw and brand 'em”

Treatment as the Bermuda Triangle

Community Recovery Land Is there a bridge? Is it busy? Does it matter? Treatment Service Land Are they different lands completely?

Pyramid of Treatment Power Circle of Recovery Cooperation

The circle holds the pyramid to account Professionals ON TAP Never ON TOP

How Recovery works: Adam T Los Angeles CONTRIBUTE BELONG LEARN

“12 Step Fellowships – AA, NA, CA, DAA?” “Our clients don’t like it, they won’t go…” “12 step is not for everyone…” “There are many pathways to recovery... (but none of them go to 12 step from here!)” CPTI

This = This Recovery? Nah!

Misery Loves Company

WORKFORCE Transformed people, transform people Can’t give away what you haven't got Treat yourself first Recognise our own ‘recovery experiences ( e.g. bereavement, divorce, stopping smoking, weight loss…) We want people to change their behaviour, will we change ours?
