Presentation transcript:

Because of His wisdom and power, God is able to use anything at His disposal to accomplish His will. Often, this has been done with even the most “common” of elements.

Is there anything more “common” than water?

God’s Use Of Water  It indicates the source of growth

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.

And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:1-3

God’s Use Of Water  It indicates the source of growth  It represents man’s deepest need

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for Thee, O God. Psalm 42:1

God’s Use Of Water  It indicates the source of growth  It represents man’s deepest need  It showed Divine wrath

And behold…I am bringing the flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall perish. Gen 6:17

God’s Use Of Water  It indicates the source of growth  It represents man’s deepest need  It showed Divine wrath  It brought man to safety

…who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 1 Pet 3:20

God’s Use Of Water  It indicates the source of growth  It represents man’s deepest need  It showed Divine wrath  It brought man to safety  It began a great discussion

Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?”

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” Jn 4:6-7, 9-11, 13-14

God’s Use Of Water  It indicates the source of growth  It represents man’s deepest need  It showed Divine wrath  It brought man to safety  It began a great discussion  It is the believer’s burial ground

Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Acts 10:47-48a
