Mission Statement The mission of the Pender Public School District is to provide quality educational opportunities in a safe, positive learning environment that motivates and challenges all students to become productive and responsible citizens.

Student Assemblies *NECC Jazz Band Performance Wed. April 16, 8:15 a.m. ~ PHS Alum Angie Dunn performed with the band!

Spring Activity Update Boys Golf – District Golf May 20 – State Golf May Track – District Meet in Thursday, May Battle Creek – State Track is May Baseball – Ended the season 6-10 – 1-2 loss to Omaha Roncali on Saturday

NeSA Testing Nebraska State Accountability testing in full swing. Testing windows are as follows: NeSA – Writing Jan. 20-Feb. 7 - complete NeSA – ELDA Feb. 10- March 21 - complete NeSA – Reading, Math, Science March 24-May 9 – complete Finishing MAPs testing this week Bright Bytes surveys were completed in conjunction with NeSA tests

ACT comes to PPS ~ ACT will be held in Pender again next year ~ Offering the Oct., Dec., Feb., April tests ~ Mr. Nixon and Mr. Warren proctor the testing ~ 15 of 22 Juniors have already taken the test ~ We are also giving the ACT with accommodations for those students who qualify on an individual basis.

G.O.O.S.E. G.O.O.S.E. stands for Get Out of School Early I cover 1 st or 8 th period for the receiving teacher/paraprofessional Can cover the period after lunch for coaches/sponsors who cannot come late or leave early Given as recognition for a job well done GOOSE recipients this month are Dustin Krusemark and Sean King Dusty K-12 Art & Sean is 7-12 Math Catch themselves coming and going during spring sports seasons. Doing an awesome job. Congratulations Dusty & Sean

Band Trip to Branson Music Boosters sponsored a trip 7-12 band/choir members attended Mr. Dregalla attended April Missed school on Thursday, April 17 No School on 18 th Back home for Easter celebrations with their families Trip was successful and there were no issues that the school district was made aware of

Our Request for Program application was submitted Still waiting for acceptance letter Team Carol for Teammate Fun Run/Omelet Feed was a big success Total profit will be announced as soon as our RFP is approved HUGE shout out to Andrea Hansen for taking the lead on this event Thank you to everyone who participated/donated/helped make the day a success

6 th Grade Transition Night Held Wednesday, May 7 th Orientation to JH/High School Opportunity to meet teachers Talked about items that often catch people off guard if they are new to the JH/HS world. – Academics/Athletics/Eligibility – Attendance/# Allowable Absences – Dress Code – Cell phone/computer Use – Bullying & Harassment

Summer School Tab Albus and Tiffany Beckman will be conducting summer school this summer Tab Albus handles credit recovery for our JH/HS students – Usually 5-10 students are eligible for summer school Tiffany Beckman is handling our SPED Extended School Year Services – 3 or 4 students are eligible for ESY services

Class Schedule Final registration will be Wednesday Made copies for you Addition of study halls due to small 7 th grade and an extremely large class of seniors Addition of reading skills/math skills (interventions) for 7-12 graders Offering DL Calculus to E-H Addition of American History 2 which will be a dual credit on-line class offered by NECC
