Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye!!!

INTRODUCTION First people who made chocolate were the Mayas and the Aztecs. They drank chocolate as a bitter and spicy beverage called “ xocoatl ” (“bitter water”). Chocolate played an important role in their social and religious life. It symbolized life and fertility and was also used as medicine. It was a drink for wealthy and important people(royalty, priests, etc.). Cocoa beans were also used as money Milk chocolate was first made by the Cadbury Brothers in 1897.

Accepting new challenges in market, George Cadbury started to research new recipes and production methods in early 1900s and, in 1904, finally succeed to produce a delicious new milk chocolate containing higher milk quantity than existing products. Cadbury is the world's largest confectionery company and have a strong regional presence in beverages in the Americas and Australia Cadbury Dairy Milk is produced in over 30 countries across the globe.

Quick Facts A bar of CDM is sold around the world every 2 seconds. Every year enough CDM is sold to wrap the world 4 times. The largest moulded bar in the world was made by Cadbury Limited in October 1998 to celebrate the re- launch of Cadbury Dairy Milk. The giant 1.1 tonne block was nearly 9ft high and 4 ft wide. It would take an average person 120 years to eat!

INGREDIENTS

Achievement of CDM According to the above analysis it is concluded that on an average people are most satisfied with the flavor/taste of a chocolate followed by quality and brand. It is surprising to know that although people are satisfied with quality but unsatisfied with the quantity and image

CDM Making Process Cadbury makes a variety of chocolates but the two main products are Cadbury Dairy Milk® chocolate and Cadbury Old Gold® dark chocolate. Production starts at the Singapore cocoa factory where the top quality cocoa beans are processed to produce the cocoa mass - which contains 53% cocoa and cocoa butter - the basis for all chocolate products. When chocolate is made, the 'mass' goes straight to the Cadbury factories in Victoria or Tasmania. Fresh full cream milk is collected and condensed and transported to the factories. Sugar is added to the condensed milk with some of the cocoa mass, making a rich creamy chocolate liquid, which is then evaporated to make milk chocolate crumb. As these ingredients are cooked together, the special rich creamy taste of Cadbury chocolate is produced. Each year, 22,000 tonnes of crumb is produced at Claremont to be made into chocolate. On arrival at the chocolate factory, the crumb is passed through a pin mill and mixed with cocoa liquor and cocoa butter, as well as special chocolate flavouring. The amount of emulsifiers added depends on the consistency of the chocolate required. Thick chocolate is needed for moulded blocks, while a thinner consistency is used for assortments and covering bars.

In ancient time, the sweets were made traditionally from milk products. And in modern period Cadbury is doing the same thing and presenting the same thing in modernized way. Although Cadbury presents in new way but maintained the traditional flavor/taste of milk and cocoa beans. The Cadbury competitor’s, such as Nestle, are little behind Cadbury in taste/flavor, its packaging system and quality too. If its competitors take its interest towards these following, then the existing gap between Cadbury and other chocolate products can be reduced to some level.

CONCLUSION It is concluded that mostly people preferred Dairy Milk of Cadbury due to its flavor/taste, quality and image and due to its hard form. Dairy Milk had become the company's best selling line and in the mid twenties Cadbury's Dairy Milk gained its status as the brand leader, a position it has held ever…
