Tues- Gym KS2 Wed- Mrs Figes out PM Knitting Club Thur- Recorder club Fri- Youth Club- games night We have had parents in school this week painting the school radiators. They have done a marvellous job- Thank you! If you have a few hours to spare and wish to help out, please speak to Mrs Figes Class 3 have been exploring 3d shapes and their nets. They have learnt how to recognise a prism from its properties, rather than its size. They have predicted a net from a 3d shape and then put them together to test their ideas. This was good, fun, hands-on work. Using our novel we have explored whether people can really be so bad that there is no hope for them. We have written reports as to whether the character in our book is a monster or just mis-undertood. This week we have compared an audio version of our focus text with the book. We enjoyed listening to the story and we thought the sound effects and voices made it much more interesting. The Year 1s have planned and written their own versions of The 3 Billy Goats Gruff. The Reception children have written a sentence about an event in the story. Well done. Class 2 have been investigating problems associated with measuring this week. We now know that the person with the biggest handspan can hold the most as we have tested our theory using marbles and cubes. Who lives in your garage? Skellig lives in Michael’s garage on Falconer Road. We have added another character Mrs Steele invented a character called Miranda who wears a dressing gown, a blue hat and has a pair of golden wings.Where did she come from?

Sing Up! We have had very little money back yet to fund the cost of transport to the Whitehaven Civic Hall. We are asking for £2 towards transport for every member of Key Stage Two. If we do not have enough funds, we will have to take money from other sources! If you would like us to order you a ticket for the event, these are £3 each. Please book through Mrs Toman before February 7 th. Sickness We have had lots of sickness in school and several different bugs have been making their way around the building. If your child vomits or has diarrhoea, please keep them at home for 48 hours after the sickness has stopped to ensure that they do not pass it on to others. If your child has a cold they are fine to come to school, although you may wish to supply them with tissues and remind them to wash their hands thoroughly and use their hands to block coughs and sneezes. If your child has a high temperature, please do not send them to school as it is likely that they will get worse whilst they are at school. Please also make sure we have a current contact number for you in case of emergencies. Let’s hope that we can beat these bugs soon! Headlice- There are still a few cases in school- please check your child’s head as they are easily spread. School Uniform Please remember to ensure that your child is wearing school uniform and sensible footwear at all times. Leggings are not permitted in school, they are not smart and are rather tight and revealing. Moreover brightly coloured trainers are also not permitted. Dark coloured trainers are fine, although your child will need a second pair in school for PE, if the outdoor ones get dirty. Please also be mindful of our school policy on jewellery and make up. If you are unsure you can get a copy of our policy from the office or download one from our website.
