Achievement Measures 2013 EY: From 2013, children will be defined as having reached a Good Level of Development (GLD) at the end of the EYFS if they achieve at least the expected level (2) in: the early learning goals in the prime areas of learning (personal, social and emotional development; physical development; and communication and language) and; the early learning goals in the specific areas of mathematics and literacy.

Achievement Measures 2013 KS1: No changes KS2: For current Y6 – % L4+(RWM) – Floor Standard for 2013 is 60% – % 2L prog in Reading – Floor Standard National Median for 2013 (although not a FS the median was 88% in 2012) – % 2L prog in Writing – Floor Standard National Median for 2013 (although not a FS the median was 90% in 2012) – % 2L prog in Maths – Floor Standard National Median for 2013 (this was 90% in 2012)

Achievement Measures 2013 – GaPS will be reported separately There is to be NO English calculation In 2014 the %L4+(RWM) will be 65% GaPS will be included in 2014 somehow! Reminder: Maths SATs will not longer include use of a calculator

Achievement Measures 2013 Plus... New data will be published by the Department for Education showing the proportion of primary children who achieve a “good” Level 4 in the 3Rs - those who are truly “secondary ready”. This will be until the current system of levels is removed from Not sure how (W is whole levels) or where?? measures-will-raise-ambition-and-standards

Statutory Moderation Will continue to be visits to 25% of schools for each Key Stage Meetings for EYFS will continue but not KS1 and 2

Statutory Moderation strengths New teams for Ks 1 and KS 2 have gained experience Look out for the call for new people next year HTs or assessment leaders can join in!

Even better if…… Lots of requests for support for moderation too late in the year. Think ahead! Last minute cancellations by schools have cost time and money A final review will be done for discussion next time

“Thank you for contacting us about what will be assessed in the National Curriculum tests from The tests must reflect the current statutory curriculum only, I can confirm that we cannot use anything from the draft curriculum as a basis for test content until 2016 at the earliest. As you mention in your message to us, this will mean that students ending Key Stage 2 in 2015 will be taught under the new curriculum for the academic year , but assessed under the old curriculum in 2015.”

Hot off the press Announced on 14 th June;... As part of our reforms to the national curriculum, the current system of ‘levels’ used to report children’s attainment and progress will be removed. It will not be replaced. Prescribing a single detailed approach to assessment does not fit with the curriculum freedoms we are giving schools.

Schools will be able to introduce their own approaches to formative assessment, to support pupil attainment and progression. The assessment framework should be built into the school curriculum, so that schools can check what pupils have learned and whether they are on track to meet expectations at the end of the key stage, and so that they can report regularly to parents.

Ofsted’s inspections will be informed by whatever pupil tracking data schools choose to keep. Schools will continue to benchmark their performance through statutory end of key stage assessments, including national curriculum tests. In the consultation on primary assessment and accountability, the department will consult on core principles for a school’s curriculum and assessment system.

Although schools will be free to devise their own curriculum and assessment system, we will provide examples of good practice which schools may wish to follow. Outstanding schools and teaching schools have an opportunity to take the lead in developing and sharing curriculum and assessment systems which meet the needs of their pupils. a /assessing-without-levels
