Who should I include in literacy mapping? All youth and adults who have not completed 12 years of basic education Be inclusive when completing the MIS-001 and include PWDs and older people Even if the interviewee is not interested in ALS, please include them in the MIS-001. (MIS-002 is intended for your enrolled learners)
Other benefits of literacy mapping An opportunity to know your community and to gauge how many illiterate people are in your barangay An opportunity to raise awareness of ALS An opportunity to introduce yourself as the local Barangay Literacy Worker A way in which you can recruit learners
Considerations Introduce yourself, your role, where you are based and your purpose Wear ID Ask if there is anyone who lives in the household that is not currently there at your time of visitation Consider what time of day is the best to survey your community
