Today in Room 326/311… HW: Compare/contrast 4 kingdoms of life CONTENT OBJ: SW briefly describe and provide examples for each kingdom of life LANG. OBJ: SW read info sheets, write notes, talk in groups, and listen to directions ANNOUNCEMENTS: Lots of things to grade, I’m trying…. AGENDA: AS: Cells (10 min) Cell Notes (5 min) Microscope Lab/Notes (45 min) Six Kingdoms Poster (20 min) Date:3/8/16Topic:Six Kingdoms of LifePage # ___

What Comes to Mind?

Trippy Cell Video A A

The Cell* The basic structural and functional unit of all life There are six kingdoms of life (each with organisms made of cells) An organism may be only one cell big Cells may group together to form tissues  organs  organisms Journals out!!

Six Kingdoms of Life* Animalia (Animals) Plantae (Plants) Fungi Protista (Protists) EubacteriaArchaebacteria

Today Microscope lab Do not pick up the microscope! But when you do, hold by arm and bottom at the same time. Use the knobs to change magnification and to focus on slide Start at low magnification and then grow to high magnification (10x  20x  40x)

Stations: Six Kingdoms There are 6 stations around the room, each for a kingdom of life 4 of the stations have slides so you can view the cells in that kingdom (7 min per station) You will fill out your lab sheet when you come to a microscope station At all stations, you must fill in your graphic organizer, AND take notes in your journal. (Demo…) Non- microscope station- save for last (5 min each)

Poster Project Count off 1 through 6… 1 = animals 2 = plants 3 = protists 4 = fungi 5 = eubacteria 6 = archaebacteria

Homework Back of lab sheet- due tomorrow as a LAB GRADE (worth more points!) Make sure to read the note I wrote at the top, and to answer all of the questions!!
